How X crops images in the timeline
When a post has two or more images, X puts them in a 16:9 box split into cells. Each image is scaled to fill its cell, and whatever doesn't fit is trimmed evenly from both sides or from the top and bottom. You can't set a focal point, so your control comes down to the shape of each image and the order you add them.
The trim only applies to the timeline. Anyone who taps an image sees the whole thing. That matters for posts with text in the image, like charts or screenshots: if the words sit near the edge, most people scrolling past won't see them.
